The guys met up at Mattioli Woods Welford Road Stadium this afternoon for a pre-walk media event, taking photos and checking gear before their official departure tomorrow morning. The anticipation is building for the 108-mile journey to Bath!
The guys set off from Mattioli Woods Welford Road Stadium at 6am on their walk to Bath. Let's get behind them and support the fight against MND!
The first live update from Huw and the lads! They are 15km into the walk and have just hit the Fosse Way, leaving behind Leicester city centre.
Four hours down and making great progress! The lads are on the Fosse Way, in the rain and pushing forward.
The walking team has reached Brinklow for a vital pit stop. They are taking a well-deserved break to refuel supplies, check gear, and rest their legs before continuing the march.
Quick stop at the 25-mile point. Stopping off in Princethope. Meeting a member of the public asking about the event.
40 miles and 11 hours 35 minutes of walking completed. Getting ready for night walking. Feeling good!
50 miles complete during the night slog! The lads are about an hour away from the halfway point. Pushing through the darkness!
From the halfway point, ready to do it all again today (54 miles)! After 4 miles of today's leg, another Matt joined the team and will be walking the remaining 58 miles with the group.
A quick rest and lunch break for the walking team before hitting the road once again. Energy levels are high as they push on!
Our stop at The Stump! 71 miles done now, with only 37 miles remaining to reach the finish line. The team is pushing hard!
The last stint during the day from Cirencester is completed, with 80 miles covered leading into the night! The team now has basically a marathon left until we get to Bath Rugby ground.
It's getting light (again) as the team hits roughly 94 miles completed! The rain and wind are really picking up, but there are only 14 miles left until we reach the Bath Rugby ground.
100 miles completed! Very much on the home stretch now. Next stop, BATH!!!
We made it! All 108 miles have been completed. Perfect timing; as the game was kicking off, we also reached our ÂŁ10,000 goal. Thank you to everyone who has contributed and helped us achieve this magnificent accomplishment of raising a significant amount of money for MND.
This challenge is for Lewis Moody, an England Rugby legend, captain, British Lion, and a player who embodied everything that’s best about rugby: teamwork, courage, respect, and relentless commitment.
Lewis’s recent diagnosis with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a stark reminder of how this devastating illness continues to affect too many within our sporting family.
Following in the tragic footsteps of Doddie Weir, Rob Burrow, Ed Slater, and others who’ve inspired the rugby world with their fight, we are driven to contribute to the search for a cure.
As former players, we saw first-hand what MND can do. This walk is powered by a shared belief in rugby’s enduring values and the community it builds.

Ex-Royal Air Force, and currently 33 years in the Fire & Rescue Service, where my management doctrine is to promote self-discipline, pride and excellence. A former representative rugby player for the RAF, England Fire Service and several National League Rugby Clubs. Being present numerous times to watch Lewis play for both club and country, I felt compelled to help increase awareness and much needed funds for MND.
A retired fire officer with 29 years of dedicated service, I’ve built my career on leadership, resilience, and teamwork. As a former international decathlete, I now coach elite athletes and consult as a subject matter expert in incident command. Guided by integrity and passion, I continue to inspire others—both in sport and in life. Raising awareness and funds for MND research is personal with my family affected by similar degenerative disease.
Former Royal Green Jacket and ex-CEO of Wattbike, I’ve led teams through the military, business, and sport to achieve purpose-driven goals. I played representative and national league rugby under Paul “The Judge” Rendall, and after losing both him and my friend and Wattbike CFO’s wife to MND, this cause feels deeply personal. I’m determined to help raise awareness and vital funds for MND research.
Senior Director at JLL where my team ethos is work hard, play hard, love what you do, build trust and always look to leave nothing in the tank! Qualified rugby coach and former chairman of Minchinhampton RFC M&J Section with 11 years of coaching. Avid Bath Rugby supporter, looking to bring the fight to MND by taking on this mammoth physical and mental challenge.
