Departing from Mattioli Woods Welford Road Stadium. The spiritual home where Lewis made his name.
Continuous movement across roads and countryside. Navigating physical exhaustion and sleep deprivation over 40 grueling hours.
Saturday June 6th, 15:00
Arriving at The Rec for kick-off. A celebration of rugby brotherhood.
This challenge is for Lewis Moody, an England Rugby legend, captain, British Lion, and a player who embodied everything that’s best about rugby: teamwork, courage, respect, and relentless commitment.
Lewis’s recent diagnosis with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a stark reminder of how this devastating illness continues to affect too many within our sporting family.
Following in the tragic footsteps of Doddie Weir, Rob Burrow, Ed Slater, and others who’ve inspired the rugby world with their fight, we are driven to contribute to the search for a cure.
As former players, we saw first-hand what MND can do. This walk is powered by a shared belief in rugby’s enduring values and the community it builds.

Ex-Royal Air Force, and currently 33 years in the Fire & Rescue Service, where my management doctrine is to promote self-discipline, pride and excellence. A former representative rugby player for the RAF, England Fire Service and several National League Rugby Clubs. Being present numerous times to watch Lewis play for both club and country, I felt compelled to help increase awareness and much needed funds for MND.
A retired fire officer with 29 years of dedicated service, I’ve built my career on leadership, resilience, and teamwork. As a former international decathlete, I now coach elite athletes and consult as a subject matter expert in incident command. Guided by integrity and passion, I continue to inspire others—both in sport and in life. Raising awareness and funds for MND research is personal with my family affected by similar degenerative disease.
Former Royal Green Jacket and ex-CEO of Wattbike, I’ve led teams through the military, business, and sport to achieve purpose-driven goals. I played representative and national league rugby under Paul “The Judge” Rendall, and after losing both him and my friend and Wattbike CFO’s wife to MND, this cause feels deeply personal. I’m determined to help raise awareness and vital funds for MND research.
